
Hanks his next role - the astronaut and commando Jim Lovell, in the docudrama Apollo 13 (1995) - He was reunited with Ron Howard. The film was widely lauded by critics in addition to the performances of the entire cast (which comprised Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise and Ed Harris), and Kathleen Quinlan. The film received nominations for the Academy Awards nine times and it was awarded two. Hanks played the role of Sheriff Woody in Disney/Pixar's 1995 computer-animated feature Toy Story (1995). Richard Schickel of Time magazine called his performance "charming", and most experts agreed that Hanks' portrayal ensured his place in the premier romantic-comedy stars of his generation.
